Histórico dos estudos com Athene cunicularia (Molina, 1782): Análise comparativa dos dados a partir do século XIX
Resumo
A literatura está repleta de estudos em várias áreas sobre a coruja-buraqueira desde o início do século XIX. Alguns autores realizaram revisões sobre a literatura dessa espécie ao longo dos anos. Tais revisões tinham por objetivo não somente apresentar as linhas de pesquisa em destaque, mas também propor estudos que pudessem conservar os habitats da espécie. A partir desses artigos verificou-se que mais estudos foram realizados com a coruja-buraqueira em todos os campos do conhecimento, inclusive com a finalidade anteriormente ressaltada: preservação dos habitats e da espécie. Neste estudo realizou-se uma revisão da literatura científica sobre as pesquisas com coruja-buraqueira, a partir do século XIX até os dias atuais. O levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado por meio de pesquisa em bancos de dados disponíveis para busca on-line. Os campos de pesquisa foram preenchidos com as seguintes palavras-chave: “Athene cunicularia”; “Speotyto cunicularia”; “Strix cunicularia” “coruja-buraqueira”; “Burrowing owl”. Registrou-se 438 estudos publicados com a espécie, sendo diferenciados em dez categorias, a saber: 1) Alimentação; 2) Anatomofisiologia; 3) Bioacústica; 4) Comportamento; 5) Conservação; 6) Ecologia; 7) Genética; 8) Ocorrência e Distribuição; 9) Reprodução e 10) Outras publicações. Os resultados apresentados mostram que a categoria Conservação foi o tema mais recorrente, seguido de Alimentação e Reprodução. Anatomofisiologia e Bioacústica representaram as categorias com menor resultado nas buscas. Diante disso, estima-se que o número real de estudos seja maior que o aqui apresentado, tendo em vista que inúmeros esforços têm sido realizados com o objetivo de preservá-la. Ademais, as análises bibliométricas limitadas aqui apresentadas demonstram que a simples pesquisa numa base de dados identificará grande parte da literatura sobre esta espécie (ou, provavelmente, qualquer outra espécie), mas são necessários artigos que possam compilar estudos sobre uma determinada espécie ou sobre um assunto particular de interesse científico.
